Next Best Thing To Being Naked

Call me predictable, but bikinis are my favorite kind of swimwear for all practical reasons and otherwise. Yes it gives me the best kind of tan short of sunbathing naked, but it also gives me the best kind of confidence in my body. I don’t actually think that bikinis are only for thinner girls, although it does suit those with the best body proportions. I have seen bigger girls who absolutely rocked bikinis, because their curves are all in the right places.

Here’s a pretty print I think you’ll love. It’s a Tibi Poolside Paisley String Bikini Top Style #:TIBII40220 is This print triangle bikini top features ruching at the cups. Light, removable padding. Straps tie behind neck and at back. Lined. The shell: 85% polyamide/15% lycra. The lining: 92% polyester/8% spandex. Priced at $97 for the top The low-rise bikini bottom is sold separately, and retails at $99.   After leaving a marketing job in Manhattan and moving to Hong Kong, Amy Smilovic began designing a line of smart, pretty dresses. She continues to travel all over the world and finds inspiration for her clothing in exotic locations. The Tibi buzzword is “casual chic,” and Smilovic makes sure that each of her designs is something that would fit right in with her artsy, Soho lifestyle. Her collections reflect her best assets: naiveté and “an absolute love of pretty things.” These suits are no exception

Here’s the thing, I know all virtually all girls know they look sexy in plain black bikinis. But like me, I know we also don’t want to be clones of each other so the printed or colored bikini always wins in a head to head battle. But every now and then a nice black bikini with a twist comes along and this one is a total gem. This Seventh Wonderland Anouk Bikini Set (Style #:SEVNW20000) is your basic black bikini with a twist: the bikini top features a lace up detail plus a subtle lace trim. The cups have a removable light padding and have a hidden, molded wire between the cups for support. It’s made from 82% polyamide and 18% elastane. Cute, classic, but still unique, it retails at $97.50 after a 50% discount.

Those who don’t  like string bikinis should look into buying thicker strapped, halter neck, triangle bikinis which are flattering to the upper body since they pull the chest up into better shape and frames your assets beautifully. Here is an OndadeMar Tigris Delta bikini top (Style #:ONDAD20010) in refreshing and nautical stripes of blue and white with red and navy elastic band around the chest. It has a hook and eye, logo embossed closure between the cups, while the straps tie behind the back. You won’t go broke since it’s only $44 after a 50% discount and hey, if you don’t own a yacht, you can at least look like you’ve just stepped off one.

Some girls who have smaller chests worry about the right kind of bikini for them. They end up stuffing all sorts of fillers in the cups just to make their bikinis fit right. While this works for some, you don’t necessarily have to resort to filling your bikini cups to have a picture perfect bikini look—you can always resort to optical illusion. Bikinis like this Diane Von Furstenberg ‘Claudia’ set has layered ruffles that create the illusion of a fuller top without any “add-ons”. The set (bottom sold separately) comes in the color “tropical rain neutral”, features a U ring between the cups and a detachable halter strap. This top retails at $125.00 (sorry girls, no discount) and is made of 89% polyamide and 11% elastane. The bikini bottom comes in the same color and is sold separately.
